Ed Davenport is a British Berlin based DJ, Producer and Live Act.
Ed is building a reputation in the underground scene as a strong force both behind the decks and through his releases on Liebe Detail, Gumption, and Uk label Leftroom as Szenario. Regular gigs at key clubs in his former home of London, alongside increasingly frequent trips throughout Europe, both as a Dj and a Live Act, have helped contribute to his name becoming a benchmark for new, exciting dancefloor music.
His recent release on Gumption records, "Tillmans Uninfluence/Apples" and the acclaimed track "Eyespeak" which featured on Liebe*Detail last summer, mark a new level of maturity in his sound. These tracks, put together with a wealth of new unreleased material and remixes form the basis of his new live project. Not content with simply playing his existing tracks in a "live" environment, Ed builds his live show layer by layer, leaving the arrangement up to him on the night, judging the atmosphere of the venue and the crowd....
His productions can glide smoothly through deep surging house, tense, stripped-back techno and warm, emotive melodies. This love for rich and diverse musical styles is also reflected in his DJ sets, where intricate subtleties are layered over solid, up-building grooves, taking the crowd on an exciting and sometimes unpredictable journey.
This is shown off in the various remix projects that he has been asked to complete over the last year, and span from the cool, deep-tech journey of his remix of Chris Fortier's 'As Long As The Moment Exists', on Australian EQ Grey records, to the tough techno crank of his 'No Strings Remix' of Den's 'Basement', on fellow UK-come-Berlin artist Mark-Henning's Clever Music imprint. Ed also recently remixed the single from Mark's first album on Soma Records, twisting the original into a reduced tribal-acidic monster, that won favour with both peak-time and afterhours Djs across the board.
Ed's talent for creating an atmosphere, particularly during long, blissed out early morning jams, is now starting to earn him the recognition he deserves, with bookings taking him to previously unchartered territories, from the USA, where he played at the renowned Kontrol party alongside Alland Byallo in San Francisco, to a showcase of his Live set at the infamous Watergate Club in his new home town of Berlin.
