Felipe Moura was born in Rio De Janeiro (Brazil) but has been a UK resident since 2006 in order to continue his developing career as an audio engineer, and electronic music artist. His music background dates back to when he was a kid. “I remember toying around with my mum’s Casio keyboard to the point of driving anyone around me crazy. I remember quite vividly: While everybody around me were playing popular tunes, I’d use the keyboard to play a sequence of repeated notes the strangest way possible.” He says.
Also, he loved to sneak in his parent’s music room to dig through their record collection, or touch any button that would trigger any kind of sound. “It’s not like I didn’t have my own sound system and record collection…but theirs looked and sounded better (clears throat). I used to be told not to even come close to it, but that just added more interest…it was just there, for me…to touch it, you know? Haha.”
Felipe has been always a music fanatic but never decided what instrument to play, what to follow, and who to show it to…especially because everything he made sounded absurdly strange (with a touch of innocence) for those around him. Because of that, he became interested in computers and left music aside, treating it merely as a passionate hobby as a DJ and enthusiast.
In early 2000’s, Felipe moved to the United States as a university student. There, he met one if his closest friends who had a mutual feeling towards electronic music. Eventually, both were following the scene more closely, playing out and often exchanging ideas for the future. This had a major impact on his thoughts of becoming a serious music producer.
After spending a few weeks traveling in Europe in 2005, Felipe realized that his musical interests were far more fulfilling in the UK and Germany than it would ever be in the US. Then, he came to live in London a year later.
He’s currently working alongside a London night called Stand Out, MashedUK, and in 2009, he’ll be releasing his first solo tunes under an upcoming English label (to be announced soon).
