“I love music… how it can make our emotions flow; how it can change the way we think; the way we love; the way we express ourselves.” Omid 16B
Omid is an artist who isn’t just a dj/producer but also a songwriter and musician who plays a range of musical instruments from an early age and has spent most of his life involved in music. Head of the SexOnWax, Disclosure and Alola labels, he is seen as a key tastemaker throughout the electronic scene signing a collection of artists throughout whilst leading the A+R. As a producer, Omid has released a succession of acclaimed artists albums such as “Sounds From Another Room” and “How To Live 100 Years” as well as compilations for Yoshi-Toshi. He has remixed artists including The Cure, Gus Gus, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Morel, François Kevorkian and Pete Moss just to name a few.
In collaboration with DJmag (2006), Omid took the lead in starting the CD cover mount series called ‘Face Off’ with Mr.C as his partner. Omid spent the next 2 years in the making of his third artist album “Like 3 Ears and 1 Eye” whilst also touring as SOS. Being the cover star for DJmag November issue 2007, Omid shocked the dance community by including his new album ‘Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye (part 1)’ as a cover mount CD and allowing a synchronized release with the rest of the world. A heralded move given today's current digital climate which saw Omid releasing the second part of ‘Like 3 Ears and 1 Eye’ on SexOnWax Recordings through all digital outlets shortly after part 1 in January 2008.
As a DJ, Omid has created a certain style and unique expression that constantly inspires ones who watch, like a Persian prince leading the crown into his hands, nothing short of a true showman.
The SOS Collective with Omid ‘16B’ Nourizadeh and Demi Hajigeorgiou (originally as a trio with Desyn Masiello), started their journey with a series of legendary London boat parties, Ibiza showcases, Miami WMC appearances and not to forget their excellent 3 hour SOS - Essential Mix, broadcasted during WMC 2006 on BBC radio 1, which have made them the stuff of legend with SOS events being a must on all party itineraries.
In April 2008 Omids collaboration as SOS lead to 6 months in the making of their triple disc for the Balance 013 CD compilation (Stomp Australia) and with a world wide release SOS were set to tour the globe for the entire year. Whilst still on tour with SOS Omid found time to slip into studio mode when back at home only for a few days at a time, carried on writing towards a new 3 parts series called “SEQUENTIAL”.
After Omid’s successful Sequential series on SexOnWax he got busy with SOS compiling and producing the first in a new compilation series for Ministry of Sound UK ‘MOS presents SOS’, released early 2010. Omid continues to release on Sexonwax with more releases on other labels being introduced early 2011 like Bedrock and Tsuba.
In their present format, Omid and Demi are putting the finishing touches on the first SOS artist album due to come out in 2011 whilst Omid also will continue to pursue his solo projects.
