Fish Go Deep: Off Script | Local Talk Records

With a tad over 25 years of Djing and producing experience under their belt, Irish duo Fish Go Deep continue to lord over the house music soundscape in their hometown of Cork.

Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson have been playing records together since the late ´80s, thanks to long-running residencies in house-music nights such as the Sweat Dance and later in their Go Deep parties. In total, more than 27 years behind the decks, making them true champions of the Cork scene.

As producers, Fish Go Deep have led a very prolific existence, releasing numerous 12” singles and E.P.´s on labels such as Tuna, Defected, Chez and their very own goDeep Recordings.

Their latest release, Off-Script, comes from Swedish imprint Local Talk. A deep and trippy two-tracker, this record showcases Fish Go Deep´s production skills and know-how for a well-rounded first effort on the house-music label.

Greg and Shane start things off with the title track, designed for the dance floor thanks to a shuffling beat and funky bass line, but also allowing for a little headspace courtesy of a chirpy, playful melody floating above the rhythm. Things get spaced-out during the breakdown, bringing back the beat full swing for the tune´s final bars.

On the flip side, Northern Reach is a darker, moodier affair, dominated by synth stabs and floating pads, giving it a more after-hours feel.

Fish Go Deep are slated to play on the SSW6 Summer Weekender in the UK (June 10-13th 2016) alongside names such as DJ Sneak, Pig & Dan, Funk D´Void, M.A.N.D.Y. and many others.
